Funding Opportunities

Faculty Stipends for International Course

Stipends of up to $3000 are awarded for the summer to selected faculty members who wish to develop a new undergraduate course with an international focus.

Funds for an International Conference

Limited funding is awarded for the fall, spring or summer to support an international conference or colloquium. The event should focus on global issues, bringing together scholars with an interdisciplinary and international perspective. The funds are intended to defray administrative and logistical costs associated with hosting the event, exclusive of accommodations and transportation for participants.

Funds for International Scholars

Limited funding is awarded for the fall and spring semesters to support linkages between Wake Forest University and international scholars. These linkages may include invitations to international scholars for presentations, lectures, short research projects, or other types of collaboration.

Undergraduate Student Stipends for Participation in International Conferences/Activities

Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply for funds to participate in a variety of international activities during the fall, spring or summer. These activities may include a presentation or attendance at: an international conference; a domestic conference with an international focus; or a workshop or other activity with an international focus.

Service Opportunities

The QEP Co-sponsors several international volunteer service trips for which faculty may serve as faculty advisor.

Resources

A Wake Forest in the World website is being developed which will serve Wake Forest students, faculty, and staff as a comprehensive website for international resources. This website will serve as a portal for international information related to academic courses, academic programs, study abroad opportunities, internship opportunities, service opportunities, student organizations, campus activities, research, and funding and fellowship opportunities. It also will provide data on students and faculty abroad as well as international students and faculty on campus.

WISE (Workshop on Intercultural Skills Enhancement) Conference

The Center for International Studies offers an annual workshop on intercultural skills enhancement for faculty traveling with students abroad. This workshop equips faculty to assist students in their transition from the United States to another country and also prepares faculty to help their students avoid culture shock. Although filled with participants from across the country, spaces are reserved fro WFU faculty at each conference.
