Bioethics, Health, and Society

Congratulations to the Center for Bioethics, Health, and Society as one of the first recipients of strategic plan center funding! After reviews by an external panel and the Research Advisory Council, this center has received five years of funding. Its proposal demonstrated that collaboration would enhance research and education, strengthen intellectual community among the departments and schools, and bolster academic reputation.
Under the direction of Mark Hall (Law) and Nancy King (Public Health Sciences), the Center for Bioethics, Health, and Society will have a three-fold focus: ethical issues in biotechnology, bioethics and social justice, and public engagement. The Center will examine and address the implications of these foci while also recommending improvements in health reform and developing innovative methods for public information sharing. Students in the new MA program in Bioethics will be integrated into all these activities.
