Wake Forest to establish a child care and early education center
The following message is sent on behalf of President Wente, Provost Gillespie and Executive Vice President Travisano.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We are thrilled to announce that Wake Forest University will establish a child care and early education center in the University Corporate Center. During its October 27 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution to renovate space to house the new center.
Our goal is to open the child care center in early fall 2024.
We know firsthand that balancing the demands of work and family is challenging, and there is a critical need for access to high-quality child care in our community. Increasing the availability of child care for faculty, staff, and students underscores our commitment to the wellbeing of the Wake Forest community, and to the recruitment and retention of our outstanding faculty and staff.
We want to acknowledge the many faculty and staff who have sought this outcome for decades. Thank you for your advocacy and steadfast commitment to establishing a child care center at Wake Forest. Thank you for completing surveys, attending forums, working on committees, drafting plans and sharing ideas that led to this milestone moment for Wake Forest. We could not have done this without you.
More details are available in the full announcement on Inside WFU.
Sincerely,
Susan R. Wente,
President
Michele Gillespie,
Provost
Jacqueline A. Travisano,
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
