I am delighted to announce the appointment of Kimberley McAllister as Wake Forest University’s inaugural Vice Provost for Research, Scholarly Inquiry, and Creative Activity (VPRSICA), effective September 1, 2024. Dr. McAllister joins us from the University of California, Davis, where she currently serves as Director of the Center for Neuroscience and Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neurobiology, Physiology & Behavior. Her impressive background, visionary leadership, and commitment to excellence make her the ideal person to lead Wake Forest’s research enterprise into an exciting new phase of growth and success.

As VPRSICA, Dr. McAllister will provide strategic direction to align our research priorities with the University’s academic mission and strategic framework. She will work to strengthen our research infrastructure, identify opportunities for collaboration, and support our exceptional faculty and students in their scholarly and creative endeavors.

I am confident that Dr. McAllister’s collaborative spirit and innovative mindset will be invaluable assets as we continue to elevate Wake Forest’s research profile and make a meaningful impact in the world. Her joint appointment in the Department of Biology and at Wake Forest University School of Medicine also opens up exciting possibilities for cross-disciplinary partnerships.
