The Faculty Handbook is a consolidated reference for the use of faculty members on the Reynolda Campus. It is published by the Provost’s Office in cooperation with the deans, the vice president and general counsel, the secretary to the Board of Trustees, and the President’s Office. On the recommendation of the Faculty Senate and after extensive consultation, the Handbook will ordinarily be published once a year, on or about July 1, and will contain a summary of changes from the previous edition. If changes need to be incorporated “off-cycle,” a new edition may be posted with an explanation of those changes. If you have any questions or concerns about the Faculty Handbook, please contact Matthew Phillips in the Office of the Provost.

Note: if you need the previous version, which was the primary document used in responses as part of the University’s accreditation review, you can access it here. That superseded version is available for cross-referencing through the end of the accreditation cycle to avoid confusion about changes in page numbers, etc., that may have occurred with the Dec 2024 revision.

Document Hosting and Navigation

Beginning with the October 2024 edition, the Handbook is now maintained in the University’s Google Workspace environment, which means that the document is more accessible, easier to search, and allows for linking directly to relevant portions of the handbook (right-click on a heading and choose “Copy Link to Heading” from the context menu). You can also download a PDF if you prefer (choose “Download” from the “File” menu after clicking on the handbook image above).

Archives of past editions of the Faculty Handbook and related documents are maintained by the Special Collections & Archives department of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library.

Faculty at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine have a separate faculty handbook hosted by the School of Medicine.
